I bought a Ruger 25.06 last year before deer season started and ended up shooting two bucks using the SST's. At the range, this rifle is a laser with the STT's and I wouldn't shoot with any other ammo, at least not for this rifle.

Both would be a good choice.

I switched to Superformance in our .243 and .308 when the Winchester Ballistic Silvertips got hard to find. Accuracy has been good but I'm not positive that I like the bullet results. I would lean towards the AW first unless the Superformance shoots much better. Yea, I liked those .308 Winchester Ballistic Silvertips too. Got 3/4 box left. Factory I'm liking the Barnes but $$$

So my advice - shoot them both and see what the rifle likes. Both will take down a central Texas whitetail. Best answer so far IMHO.........

Like BayouGuy I reload, that said anything at or above 100 grains that shoots the best in your rifle will get the job done on Texas whitetail. The only factory ammo I ever shot was core lock and it did well.

85gr ttx bullets are sweet factory loads for that gun.. Id use 95-115 gr Rem corelock ammo cuz it kills deer well and is cheap Navasot is dead on. I've been shooting a 25-06 since the mid 80s'. I have tried just about every round there is and I am down to two keepers. The Barnes 100 gr. ttx/ttsx and Remington Core Lokt 115 gr., with the green box taking the slight lead due to expansion and economics. I can see the day in the near future where all rounds will be required to be lead-free, so the Barnes will be the one.
