Bought an AR that has a threaded AAC flash hider on it, to mount a can to, but don't ever plan on using a can so I need the tool to remove this. Anybody have a good idea for an alternative tool that would work? I'm not going to try to use a wrench on the little 2 flat spots & everybody says it's stuck on VERY good & I want to sale the flash hider when I remove it. I'd buy the tool but it's $40+ shipped and I'll only need it for 30 seconds.

3/4" (I think) open end wrench should work. You Tube videos... Link Apply heat prior to attempting to remove. I no longer use AR vise blocks. Was given a reaction rod...no stress on the upper receiver. Geissele Reaction Rod

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

An AR wrench should get it off, that's what i took mine off with. Just be careful, might use PB or some heat and take your time.

It's held on w/Rocksett so heat will do nothing. This isn't your common flash hider removal. It's an AAC on a DPMS G2 Recon .308. Typical means of removal are a bit out the window, meaning the wrench is in no way going to work. Thanks.

I've heard boiling water. Might try soaking it in whatever type of thinner you might have on hand as well. I'd be nervous of twisting the prongs even with the correct tool unless you do something to try to break down the rocksett.

I would not try using an open ended wrench it will just round off. I have done it.... I have soaked them and heated them before rounding them off as well. I have the correct tool and I sent you a pm.

I got mine of country boy style.
Homemade AR mag well block made from Boise d' arc. Block in the vise with the rifle locked in. Wrap a leather glove around the flash hider, and grip it with a pipe wrench. A wack on the handle with a three pound hammer and it was done.

I used a method similar to the Fireman. Placed in a homemade mag block (GI mag with guts and bottom removed and replaced with a 1x2), wrapped it with duct tape, 36" pipe wrench. Done deal. Sold it for $75 if I remember correctly.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.
