My Pointer has been a great retriever since she was just a pup. You throw it or shoot it, it's coming back...even over water.
All of a sudden she has stopped fetching. I have a dummy out back that I toss around in the off season. Both dogs like to compete to get to it first and get the atta boy.
Now, she just stands there and looks completely uninterested.
Have you seen this before and if so, what should I do here?
thanks guys.

Make sure she's not going into heat or having some other health problem. There are fixes for just about anything but first look into her health

How old? No matter the age you can progress through these lessons shown in the videos. Just modify it a little to the age of your dog. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nj5y3z7THH4

She's seven and was spayed at the first sign of "in season."
She seems as healthy as ever. Likes to play, gets excited about running up and down the creek and swimming. Eats well.
I'll check the video. thanks.

I've had them that lost interest in dummies but would continue fetching dead birds.

I'm hoping that is the case.
I only know one way to test that theory.

I think it's series of 7 video clips. I know it's s puppy but you can do it with an older dog.

Natural retriever or force broke? Had two littermates that were natural and at 6 years one quit. Never would again except when her sister got to the bird and she was near but then only pick it up and drop it later. It's not uncommon for a natural to quit, force breaking is the only sure thing.
