First observation is that the scope on the 39A is not off, which means I really did miss that recent shot because of me. Bothersome thought...

But, the point of this: we have 3 22 lever guns - a Marlin 39A, a Winchester 9422, and a Browning Micro Midas. It's a nice morning and I thought it'd be good to take a little time and shoot the rifles and just check the scopes (cause...ya know...I did miss, and surely it wasn't operator error...surely). Well, as I mentioned, it was operator error.

A SiL brought some new splatter targets, which we all enjoy blasting, so I got them out and set up to shoot. The observations:

The smoothest action is the 9422. Best trigger, I'll say it's the 9422, but the 39A is close. Worst trigger, by far, is on the Browning, but maybe it'll smooth up with time. Accuracy...hard to say, but I think I shoot the 9422 a little better. All three rifles shoot real well. Best ergonomics goes to the 9422, as it's light and really easy to handle.

If I could only keep one of them, I guess it'd be the 9422, though I've had the 39A since about 1980.

All three are scoped. The 39A has a Nikon 3-9 Rimfire scope on it. Really a clear scope. POI doesn't wander. The other two have old Leupold 2-7 centerfire scopes on them. Not quite as clear as the Nikon, but they have to be 35 years old at least.

Last observation is that the Browning Micro Midas is a tiny little rifle. Almost too small for a full sized guy to shoot well. The wife does fine with it though.

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that I had several 22 rounds that didn't fire. I have a midsized box of jumbled up random 22 ammo. Some Federal, some Remington, and some Aquila. Maybe some CCI. All the rounds that didn't fire were in the Browning. Looks like a light hammer strike to me. All the duds had a C on the base of the bullet.
