MARSOC is not Force Recon, MARSOC is directly equivalent to Army Special Forces (Green Berets), Force Recon is approximately equivalent to the Army's Rangers. I do know that the SEALS have been looking to replace their Sigs for a while.

Interesting article. And it makes sense if it's true.

My cousin is in marsoc and he and many of his teammates have been using the g19 for several years now. Only pistol he will carry. Marsoc guys have a choice to an extent of what weapons they have in their suite.

MARSOC or United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, is the service-level command for USMC special forces and is equivalent to USASOC or US Army Special Operations Command, or even AFSOC, US Air Force Special Operations Command.
Force RECON, Rangers, Army Special Forces, and SEALs are subordinate elements to the respective service-level commands.

No doubt the G19 is a fine sidearm but I'd hardly think it's worth doing away with sig. The MK25 is fantastic in my book. I carried a Beretta M9 in the Army and would have given anything for either as an alternative. The M9 just wasn't cutout for desert warfare in my book, we constantly had problems. Mostly because most other carriers were young officers that couldn't be convinced that a daily oil bath was not a great idea.

I really like Sig pistols and have traded away every Glock I've tried to like.
That said, the Glock is quite a bit less expensive to purchase and replace parts. Glock magazines are also cheaper, more plentiful, and offered in more capacity options.
