That first one a channel? I believe it is a blue. When the channels get big though, it is really hard to tell them apart. I know on a channel, on the anal fins, they will have less than 28 spines. On a blue they will have over 28.

My vote is channel. It doesnt seem to have that hump on its back that a blue will have. It is hard to tell though. But, that would be the biggest channel cat I've ever seen though too.

If you got the weight on it id have it checked even though its prolly gone by now lol... looks like a channel to me with that wide dark top lip and long body... could be a blue that missed a few meals too... the channels do loose spots once they get big enough.... main reason I say is cuz it looks like it could be in the 20s... the lake record is 27 I believe

This one was 20# and was cleaned and added to the freezer. I will have to start paying closer attention. My oldest son is pretty good at collecting fishing records. He holds the Junior State Record Channel Cat by trot line. The Lake Amistad Channel Cat Record by trot line. And also the Lake Amistad Yellow Cat Record by trot line.

Great time rewarded with some great cats. Nice work. Is the lake still way down?

Great time rewarded with some great cats. Nice work. Is the lake still way down? The lake is way low. It was at 12% then we had some rains and it is now at 13.9% full.
