A scope with that power range at that price is probably not a very good scope.

A Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 is a great scope for that money (299), If it's not the Viper model that's another story, but
the viper is worth that money easily.

It's a viper. I was going to buy that scope at 384 but found a demo viper pst 4-16x50 ffp for the same price. I took the pst. I felt like a thief at the cash register!!!!!!!!!

The 299 scope is a viper. Hell I might still buy the 299 scope to use at the range. That's a darn good scope at that price. I was just trying to help out someone looking for a scope.

Apparently that model in 6.5-20X44 is a discontinued model i guess is why it is on sale. I tried to look it up online and it doesnt even give those specs. I tried to call cabelas here and the gun counter was busy and the lady at the front said with out item number she doesnt know.

Only the display left in Allen, TX. Good luck.

I guess many like the poor quality of the viper scopes.

If it's the plain Viper with the BDC reticle, I've got two of them. One is on my long range AR and works well for the purpose. Tracks true and holds zero perfectly. Glass is good, but not great. I routinely shoot it to 600 yards and have no complaints out to that distance.

Even at $429.00 a 6.5-20 scope is not going to be that good IMO. You could get a very nice 3-9 or 3.5-10 though.

Booradley. Did you even bother to look at the scope before commenting. The scope has been review by over 5 sites and 4.8 out of 5 is the lowest rating I've seen. These come from people that own the scope. That's well over 200 users. The scope was on sale for 299.

I wouldn't knowly recommend junk.

I've looked through the actual scope. I sell scopes and firearms for a living. It is just my opinion but for my eyes a scope in that power range at that price is not that good. For someone else it may be different.

So what scope in that price range do you recommend for long range shooting($299-384)? One that tracks back to zero well from multiple adjustments in a day.

Also why do you believe your views differs so much from the guys that actually own the scope?

I don't recommend one, and don't have a clue as to why my view is different than others. I also stated a scope in that power range at that price doesn't work for my eyes but it may for other people. It is much more expensive to make a good scope with 20X magnification than one with 10X. That is just fact. What I notice in 20x scopes under $500.00 is that over about 16X the image starts to get blurry. YMMV.

Another explanation might be that I look through many scopes on a daily basis. Scopes that range in price from $100.00 to $2,500.00. Look through enough of them long enough and you draw some conclusions.

It doesn't say where you are located. If you are in DFW, you could come to the Fort Worth Cabela's sometime(where I work) and I could try to show you what I mean.
