A visitor on the front porch, taken late last night. He was pretty feisty and would strike at you, if you moved within 3 or 4 feet of him. All stretched out he was perhaps 12 inches long. From the online photo guides, it is a Texas Brown Snake, and the adults average 8 to 14 inches long. I shooed him off the porch, back onto the lawn, and bid him goodnight.
