A buddy gave be a protein feeder that was a little busted up. I've about got it fixed and was thinking of a run to TSC for a sack or two of protein feed. I've never fed protein and have no clue which TSC product is best bang for the buck (see what I did there?). Anybody got anything to toss out there?

Good question. Bated breath.

This is what I see on their site -

I think the top bag is the only real protein, the other two are mineral and nuggets, whatever that is. I could go to Russel Feed to if this isn't the right stuff.

There's a church and a vet, but no feed store in Aurora that I can recall. One or two in Boyd.

At that light on 114. Across the intersection from Tater Junction.

OH YEAH! Kountry Korner. That place just got new owners. I used to get my kerosene there, never bought feed there, worth a peek.

TSC carries deer protein pellets if that is a convenient place for you to get it. Type in "Record Rack Sportsman Choice Deer Feed" in the search bar. $12.99 for a 50 lb bag. The "pet" deer in my back yard have a healthy appetite for it!

Check a local feed mill out. I quit buying the high dollar bagged protein feed a couple years ago. I just take a couple 55 gal drums to the feed mill and get if for half the price. I feed an alfalfa pellet with 16% protein, and the deer love it. $14.00 per hundred pounds.

It really depends on what you are looking to accomplish. If you want to feed a little as an attractant, just about anything that they will eat will work. If you're looking to get a little more serious with supplemental feeding, stick with the name brand 20% protein pellets. IMO.

As far as TS, you never know what they will have until you walk through the door and the screwball part of it is that the local manager has no idea what is coming in on his next supply truck. Someone in a far away office decides that it is "deer season" in Texas and sends him a supply of "seasonal" merchandise. Hopefully, there will be a few bags of protein on the truck. Hopefully, there will be a few bags of protein on next week's truck...you get the idea. Heck of a way to run a railroad.

I feed Purina AntlerMax year round. Always available from a good Purina dealer.
