I am about to put a vortex viper on a ruger RPR, but I can't decide what rings/1 piece mount to get. There is such a wide variety, and such a jump in price that it's hard for me to decide.
Is the $250 1 piece mount really that much better than the $75 rings?

For one piece mounts I really like Larue or DNZ. For rings, I pretty much only use Seekins.

I bought these based on fireman's recommendation of badger rings in genral. Although his original suggestion was just a pair of separate rings. He claims a pair of separate badger rings can be remove and reinstalled without losing zero. I got the one piece because I thought it looked cooler. And just like racing stripes, coolness counts. http://swfa.com/Badger-Ordnance-30mm-1-Piece-Ringmount-P11817.aspx

EGW 20 MOA pic rail, Talley Tactical aluminum or Badger Ordinance steel rings.
I have that pic rail on every rifle. So six rifles and three scopes. Easy to move a scope from one rifle to the other and re-zero, did it yesterday.

Anything that bolts solid to a rail is best. The cheap bases that have the rear windage screws on each side are the worst.

Rings?
Have some on loan from them right now. They are quality, but the fact that they clamp to the pic rail with torx screws, instead of one cross bolt and nut, makes me like the Talley and Badger better.

I have 4 sets of XTR rings and they all utilise a single cross bolt with a nut to attach to the pic rail.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

The rings FJG has are listed as Burris Extreme Tactical Signature series on SWFA's website. I went to SWFA and compared the Burris Extreme Tactical with cross bolt to the Talley Tactical and went with the Talleys because they were quite a bit lighter.
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

Lots of great rails and rings out there. I have used Seekins Precision rings in the past and really liked them when using a rail. With that said, I currently have a set of Talley lightweight mounts on my 300 win mag and have had zero problems with them. I was going to go with a picatinny rail set up but the Talley mounts have worked so well for me on many different rifles I keep going back to them. Not to mention affordable and easy to set up.

3 on Remington 700s and 1 on a 10-22. I like them for the price. They're kinda bulky but not cumbersome.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I use Burris Signature Zee Rings on every scope I have. They haven't failed me on any rifle from 22lr to 458 SOCOM.

I was looking at their Precision Mached rings, or maybe one of their cantilevered one piece mounts

Their precision matches rings used to be seekins and are very nice.

I've been running the Burris extreme tactical rings atop a Blackhawk 20moa rail on my 30-06 and haven't had any issues. Went with some Nightforce rings and base on my 7wsm due to availability at my local shop, and they have worked out well also.
