What are your thoughts on one versus the other? After your preference, I'd like to know which model. Please keep in mind I'd like to get the cheapest one that will "get the job done" as I don't have unlimited funds.

I'm fairly new to these level of red dots. I assume both are these red dots that hold the poi regardless of your exact head location/cheek weld on the rifle. Is that correct?

aimpoint all the way. Multi year battery life...no brainer. First time your eotech batteries go out during a practice shoot and you have to rip it off and shoot irons, that puppy will get gone and you will end up buying the ai point anyway.

Sorry, gotta get one of these red dots with zero parallax. When the wifey has her mind set, there is no changing it.

I'm guessing that the general opinion is the eotech is sort of out. Wondering how severe the recall was.

I didn't know about the trijicon. I guess that is now the new front runner. I found this and it seems like a heck of a deal.

Kinda in-line with FG's thinking, what about a Trijicon Accupoint? I run one and its best of both worlds because you have 1 x 4 magnification and tritium & fiber optic reticle. At 1x the reticle is bright during the day with fiber optic and bright at night with the tritium.

We have an accupoint 1-4 on a Larue mount and I thought it was the definitive end to optics for the ar. I personally totally love it. But once again when the wifey wants something she is usually dead set on it. And far be it for me to refuse her she it comes to cool gun stuffs. Besides, I just built an ar so I'm going to use the one that she doesn't fancy at any moment.

If your budget allows then I'd go with the Aimpoint over the MRO. Aimpoint is a proven, time-tested product. If budget is a concern then I'd make a trip over to Primary Arms and see if she likes any of their clones. Their clones get pretty good reviews on arfcom.

Check out Holosun as well. You can get then for 250 or so and it is a very nice red dot sight. They also have a small solar power strip on top that powers the sight even without a battery and the dot automatically brightens or dims in different light settings. I got one in trade and really like it.

Here is the one I have

Eotech, my astigmatism causes aimpoints to starburst to much for me.

Eotech 512 was great for close quarters tactical stuff. Not great for target shooting. By far the easiest sight to use though.

I never liked the Aimpoint much myself. I'd go to something like the SS 1-6X before I would get one of those.
