I just recently moved to the Gainesville area, and I'm trying to get into turkey hunting. I bought a APH for duck season this year, and was looking at using it to kill my first turkey. It doesn't seem to promising though as I would have to drive all the way to the other side of Bonham. Is there anywhere close to Gainesville, or anyone on here that has land they know of where I can get on my first Tom? I'm by no means new to hunting and outdoors, just new to the gobblers.

Think LBJ National Grasslands in Wise Co is closer to you. Never hunted there but know there are turkeys in the area. Good luck with the hunt.

I will probably drive out to where you are talking about on the other side on Bonham this weekend. Caddo National Grasslands near Honey Grove. I went last year and saw a few turkeys, heard a few gobbblers. The turkeys there in Fannin County are Eastern Turkeys though and you are limited to 1 turkey per year.
Caddo National Grasslands has 2 locations. 901N and 901S. I have never seen any on the south side. Doesn't mean there aren't any though.
I haven't been out to LBJ Grasslands yet but from what I hear it can be pretty crowded due to how close it is to DFW.
