In need of a new release aid. I use my bow for hunting mainly( both out of a tree stand for whitetail and stalk and shoot for elk hunting).
Any thoughts on pros and cons and real life experience with both?

I shoot better with the Trufire Edge 4 finger release but the wrist ones have the advantage of being on the wrist all the time when stalking. The TryFire foldback releases are nice that you can have them on but tucked back out of the way along the wrist when not in use.

I like the wrist style. With no pressure in gripping the release it's much easier to be sure of independent and focused trigger squeeze.

I like the wrist strap

I shoot better with hand held, but once you shoot it through you bow right before a big elk hunt.... You will go back to a wrist. Atleast in my case

Thats why you get one that has a wrist safety strap.

I switched to a thumb release about 6 months ago, primarily because I am able to anchor MUCH better with it than with the finger/trigger release. I also like drawing my bow better with the hand held release. I never really liked having he strap always dangling on my wrist, and the thumb release is easy to take out of my pocket and loop around my wrist. Keeps my hands free and less knocking/clanging around when I'm on the move, especially with elk hunting.
