Hello,

I just replaced my Knight that was always broken with a Traditions Buckstalker. Has anyone used one of these? I have not shot it yet, have not had the time. It feels like it has a good solid lock on it which is most of the complaints that I have read about. Just curious if anyone has shot one and has any good suggested starter loads. Thank you.

Chris.

I did just the reverse! I replaced the Traditions with my first Knight rifle and got rid of the Traditions. Just upgraded again to a Knight Vision .50!

Kept having problems with the Traditions cocking and trigger, and took forever to find the right combination of powder and bullet weight. I could never load a "magnum" load with 150 grains powder and 300 gr bullet! With the magnum load it was all over the paper. The only combo that worked accurately was 75 gr. powder and 200 gr. bullet. Not what I wanted for elk.

I have a Knight Master Hunter Disk Extreme that has been in the possession of the gunsmith more than it has been in mine since I bought it 11 years ago. It has failed me on 3 straight hunts in a row, so I decided to get something else and the rifle is going back to Knight to see if they can figure out the issue once and for all. When it shoots, it is a very accurate rifle. Anyway, living in New Mexico, I am planning on using this for the deer hunt and hopefully for an elk hunt at some point. Thank you for the advice! I will start with the load you recommended and work from there.

Chris.

I was working at Academy Sports in 2007 when we got the Knight disc rifles in and I said to myself, then, that there would be problems with that rifle. We sold three of those, and all three were brought back by the customers. We replaced them with one of the break over models that Knight had, and it performed very well. I've had mine since 2008 and never had any issues.

Knight has developed a new disc bolt that is supposed to be the remedy for their earlier problems.

I just upgraded to the new Knight VISION MAX 1 BREAK ACTION, which is a break-over rifle. We put 10 rounds thru it last weekend and it was almost perfection at 100 and 200 yards! Also shot my old, first muzzy - CVA Buckhorn. It's still a tack driver too! Shot my first 6x6 bull elk with it in November, 2001 at a range of 154 yards!

I am hoping that they can retrofit the bolt assembly and make it right. You spend that much on something and you expect it to be in working condition when you need it! I n the meantime, it looks like I am going to be using the Traditions. I will try to work up a load for it once I have some time after turkey season is over.

Chris.

Chris; Are you having ignition problems or mechanical issues> Also what powderand primer are you using. If you haven't switched to Blackhorn 209 you should. I have fired over a 1000 rounds through my Long Range Hunter and Master Hunter. I had problems with both using 777 and Pyrodex. I would have an occasional misfire etc. Since switching to BH209 and Lehigh bare primer breech plugs and religiously following Western Powder's load and cleaning instructions they have performed without a single hang or misfire and are extremely accurate.
