Whats the word on these? I've read mainly good and yet some horror stories but thats to be expected from a "middle of the road" manufacturer.

I'm looking at one currently thats lightly used but in excellent condition.

You will probably get about the same consensus here.

That said, I am a notorious "cheap gun" hater (mostly sub $400 handguns) and I've never owned one but I've shoot a few and they all seemed fine to me. My buddy's RIA 1911 is the plain jane gi style, which is the one I've shot the most, has about the same reliability as my kimber. A few feed failures initially but after a few hundred rounds the gun seemed to ware in and rarely had issues since. My Kimber seems more accurate but that can be because a variety of reason, mainly it's mine and I shoot it more often. But then again, my other friend's Wilson is more accurate than my Kimber.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I have the full stainless tactical model (skeleton trigger & hammer, Novak sites, extended beaver tail, etc) and it has been great.
I have noticed a $100 increase in price since I bought mine.

That's the better one with the front serrations, square slide and milled in bottom rail.
