So I went balls deep recently and bought a mud motored hunting boat. I love it. In the past I've had a john boat and built a homemade blind. My time now is limited so I'm looking to purchase a nice pre fabed boat blind. The boat hull is a excel f86 if that helps. Any suggestions on brands will help.

If I ever put one on it will probably be homemade.

I slayed plenty of ducks from my little john boat w a blind on it. Sitting down and shooting was a whole different ball game w all the flooding. Bigger more stable boat now so need a new blind

I only use blind for teal season, but I built a homemade and saved $500!

We used a home built one on a 10' john back in the day. Worked well enough to fool the ducks but the hard part was shooting out of that unstable little boat. If I were to hunt from a boat now I would probably build one for a few reasons.
1. If I save half the cost it justifies the sweat to me.
2. Usually the materials I use to build something is sturdier than a store bought model.
3. If I try a mod and mess it up I don't feel as bad and I can usually fix the mess up easier on what I've built.
4. Most folks aren't going to steal my redneck version of something.
5. Because I can and every bird you shoot from your home built is a little sweeter.

Only reason for hunting out of a boat is deep water, otherwise you are much better off hiding boat away from the x, and sitting in natural cover on a marsh stool. Even my layout boat (Momarsh) I rarely hunt out of it, I like hunting my layout boat because it is so easy to hide it.

This season though, with water flooded into the trees, it was easy to hide my gatortrax so did not hunt layout boat much. One hunt water was so deep were the ducks were landing (outside the buck brush), I had to hunt out my boat. I have a long one peice burlap with killerweed tied onto it, like the pic above. I use it to cover my motor when I hide it, it will cover about half the boat, I used that and pulled some natural cover over me, and laid in the boat, and just ran my boat on top and into buck brush to hide. Not with a lot of success I will add. Lol.

I agree with guy when it comes to big duck season but during teal season it's just more convient to hunt from boat! Those teal are to stupid and after shine 5-10 gators going into hole it makes sitting in that boat a lot easier! No body wants to wrestle a gator! Lol

Yeah I was in deep water this yr w my little Jon boat I went to a bigger mud motored boat which is a night and day difference. I had a homemade blind which worked well we would park in the weeds put up the blind and let the magic happen. I stayed well hid. During periods of shallower water, we would hide the boat in the trees or brush and hide. I hunt places that are deep and places that are shallow. I just don't have the time to build a blind I'd simply like to buy a ready to go one. I've seen some cabelas sells but was looking for other suggestions
