Not too excited about deer hunting any more so want to get into varmint hunting for hogs, coyotes, bobcats, fox, etc.. I have several rifles that are ideal for this kind of hunting but do not have a game caller. Can I get a suggestion on an electronic game caller that will do the job without breaking the bank. I would like to get something that won't break down all the time, it easy to set up and use and has a remote control. Anyone have experience with ICOtec and FoxPro?

May sound stupid, and definitely not electronic, but easy to use. For bobcats just get a squeaker out of a kid's toy (you can get a bag of 10 for like $2 on amazon). Put it under the heel of your boot or in your off-hand and squeak it very quietly every now and then. A quiet "squeak" also works great to whoa up fast-coming 'yotes and moving deer. Be prepared, though. They'll look directly at the "squeak" (you) and will bolt at any movement. Not replacement for an e-caller, but a nice tool to have in the bag. Best of luck to you.

That doesn't sound stupid at all. In fact it is a great idea.

Yea, dog toy squeekers are meant to sound like distressed small animals (rabbits). It triggers their instincts...

I do a lot of coyote, cat and coon calling up here in KS and have been happy with my Primos Alpha Dog. I can't remember how much it cost but I know it wasn't too much...I'm still married and wouldn't be if I spent more than $200 on a "toy". Easy to use and the sound is perfect. If I had any complaints about it, it would be that the remote power switch isn't the best. I don't use the power switch. Rather, I just dump the batteries when I want to turn it off.

I had one delivered last week. Haven't used it yet, waiting on my uber rechargeable AA's to show up first, but I cannot wait. For the price and the reviews being mostly positive, I figured it was worth the investment. It was only $185 or so...

Crap! It's been dropped to $160!

I have a primos turbo dogg. I love it. I have called on foxes coyotes bobcats and even deer. I have called the deer in with fawn in distress and also rattling antlers. If I could go back though I would get the alpha dogg which is only about $100 more and comes with 2 speakers instead of one. But I love primos electronic calls

thanks for all the feedback. I think I have decided which call I will buy. Going with basic and will move up from there as needed.

I bought an ICOtec. Finally got a chance to try it out a few weeks ago. These fox all came to the same spot in about 20 minutes. My son likes it!

ICOtec GC350 is one I decided to buy. I hope I have the same success as your son did.

Oh, and if you want to try the lo-tech method you can up your bobcat/coyote odds by hanging a turkey feather from a tall tree by some fishing line, about a foot off the ground or just above the grass. At the slightest sign of a cat lay off the call and let the feather twisting in the wind catch their eye and draw them in. Bobcats have incedible instincts, but they're really not that intelligent.

Foxpro has one of the largest sound libraries and great customer service if needed. I have been using Foxpro for quite a few years and many different models and all have done the job. I think I have had three issues over the 15+ years I have used Foxpro.... All were repaired and returned usually within a week at no charge.
When you use a caller as much as I do that is important.

Just noticed this post.... I guess I rest my case grin
