Well I'm finally starting to get back on my feet again since having my accident in 2014, and finally purchased my first real gun since then.
I ended up going with a PTR-91 GI that I got a great deal on, that I should have in within the next couple of weeks.

I'm really stoked to get it in as the only thing I really kept from my old collection after the accident was my HK USP Compact in .40 so I figure it's a great piece to start it over with.

Does anyone have any experience with the newer PTR-91 models? From what I can find online they're supposed to be pretty reliable, especially compared to the Century Arms imported Cetme rifles but I've never had the chance to handle one myself outside of gun shops before.

Also does anyone know what a good scope mount for it is if I wanted to throw a scope on it? I can get by with the iron sights for now, but I'd really like to get a scope put on it eventually. I was told to get the actual HK mount, but that's a lot of money and I wasn't sure if there were any other ones worth looking into for cheaper.

They are a battle rifle, I could never get mine down to under 2 moa on a consistent basis. But they are reliable. However they eat up brass, with the fluted chambers and the dents left during ejection. Also I would plan on replacing the trigger pack or sending it out to be worked on as they are very heavy, mine was 10.5 lbs if i remember correctly. They are also right on the scope mount, unless it has a rail welded to it the only other option that holds up is the H&K claw mount.

2nd the trigger work.
Mine was a heavy 12lbs. I replaced and is now a crisp 4 lbs with little take up or over travel.

Mine has the welded rail on top so can't help with a different scope mount. Mine is also a G3 clone (SBR)

I'm going to get a trigger job soon for mine. It's gotta be 10+ lbs but its still pretty dam accurate!

The main reason why I ended up deciding on it was I wanted an all purpose rifle to use in the fields at home, and at the range since I sold most of my guns after my accident, and I got a pretty decent deal on the PTR. I can make the iron sights work until I get a scope mount and scope for it but it will be a while before I get either as I'm going back to school again in August and I'm not able to get financial aid so I'm stuck paying everything out of pocket which drains most of my funds so this is my last gun I can purchase for a while probably.

I know a lot of people are probably thinking "Why not go with an AR-10 or similar", but I just wanted something a bit different, that still had affordable magazines/accessories. As well as I just like the styling of the gun over the typical AR style.

I heard a lot of people talking about the trigger and I do intend on eventually upgrading the trigger pack to one with a lighter pull as I've heard the horror stories about the triggers and how much creep that some of them have from factory.
