I had heard they'd eat rattlers but never really believed it. Even had a guy ask us to catch some off our place and release them on his for that reason.

Have pulled a few of those out of rattlesnake dens back when I hunted snakes in the late 80s. Never knew that they ate other snakes. I remember one in particular that would bite anything that came near it.

When I was a young man we always knew three things about the snakes that hung around our barn.
1. The rattlesnakes would bite you.
2. The Coachwhips would chase you.
3. They denned up together.

I've found them in rattler dens too, now I suspect they looked at a rattler den as a buffet.
