Watch this section closely. Check Craig's list every day in all the major cities in Texas. Watch the classifieds in major newspapers. Chamber of Commerce listings are a waste of time. When you find one that looks like it would fit you, go look at it as soon as you can get set up to see it. Be ready to lease it on the spot if you like it. If you like it, someone else does too, and it won't last long.

lots of effort and some luck frankly - check leasehunter.com daily - some really fine leases show up there.

Talk to other hunters you know - I have people tell me all of the time to let them know if I hear of an opening - I keep their contact info and let them know when something comes up I hear of. Persistence is the key - If and when you find a good place then take care of it and keep it long term. No matter what anyone says or tells you, finding a GOOD lease in Texas takes some effort - if you find one it is gold

Also be specific in what you want - size, area, cost, expectations, etc.

Hang around the live stock auctions in the areas you want to lease. Get to know the folks who run the auction and do them some favors. They can give you the inside track when ranchers are leasing.
