I was looking online for getting some new deeks for the up coming season and I remembered that a couple of guys complained about another couple of us using their deeks. They complained that we shoot their deeks so they didn't want us using theirs. Now of course we do not intentionally shoot them but it seems to sometimes comes with the territory right? Or would you be so protective of your deeks too?

I shoot ducks, decoys sometimes get some pellets.

I've only had one decoy shot...I won't mention who but I'm glad he did it, to see the look on his face and having that over him is worth far more than a silly decoy rofl

we/I shoot ducks. decoys are simply a tool used for hunting ducks. just like any other tool, sometimes they are accidentally broke or damaged. happens to a few every year. now we don't clean up cripples when we would hit a decoy, but sometimes when hunting over big spreads, teal/divers buzzing, or even some big ducks sitting down they will accidentally get shot or a flyer or two will hit one....it happens

Most of mine sound like rattle traps.

Lol. I had a brand new pintail drake catch a full load because a teal flew between the hunter and the decoy. It looked silver after that so I retired it after that hunt. Oh well.

Fear of shooting my decoys is why I call the shot when they're 50 yds up

I wait for 'em to clear the dekes. If my dekes are out I'm expecting anyone with me to do the same.

I only have one that rattles, thanks to a buddy that stepped in a soft spot trying to cap a cripple. Of course it was one of my G&H dekes. Pretty nice pattern tho!

I have a few rattling decoys in my spread. Hot glue or a little epoxy takes care of it. I don't and won't ever buy expensive decoys so I don't worry about it! I think that like scratches on a gun....it adds character! Some people choose to sweat the small stuff and that's fine, but I'd never get mad at a friend for knocking a few holes in my deeks. Just gives us something to laugh about and razz each other over!
