Ok, I clicked new topic, but sure it is an old one. On our lease, we have more hogs than anything. A lot of guys have really fancy flashlights. I don't do much, but every now and then shoot a hog just because I am in the right place. I told a buddy at work (he never shot anything) I would take him to the lease and try and get him on a hog. I asked one of the guys on our lease what type red flashlight he uses at night on the wheat field as I have seen it and it was bright as hell. I went to that website and those flashlights are like $200. So I guess my question is does $200 make sense for a great flashlight or for the same price (or maybe a little more) should I buy something else to spot hogs. A flashlight, monocular, binocular, whatever. Its a 200 acre Wheatfield attached to our lease so a long view would be nice, especially in pitch black

I was going to say yes $200 seems reasonable but <$20 seems better if you don't need it much. I spent $140~ on elusive wildlife light and I love it, and it looks identical to the one in the link

How far can you see with the photon scope? For the $20 flashlight how far do you think you can see?
Elusive wildlife is the flashlights I looked at online as recommended by someone on our lease, wasn't sure if they were the best or if there were others out there that might be better at that price point.

I have a few of the lights above and for what you need they are great. Don't spend more than you need because strong chance they will still spook

I have an elusive wildlife 250 and it works great. The thing I discovered after the fact is that you can buy the same light but unbranded for a fraction of the cost. Most of the companies are just re-branding Cree or similar Chinese lights that you can buy for $40. Amazon Link
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

With the Photon and a t-20 IR 150 yds or so to easily ID coons, hogs, rabbits, etc. The light in the link is pretty much the EW250, but far less coinage. Takes 3 weeks or so to get here, but mine has been dependable. Used it exclusively prior to the Photon.

I would go with a green lens over red.. Everything I have read says hogs spook more with red lens. I use green so I don't know from experience, just something you might want to consider when buying.. I have a killzone light on my AR and it's pretty awesome, no complaints at all...

I bought a $40 green light off Amazon and turned around and bought the $140 Elusive Wildlife light. Honestly I can't tell any difference while shining at night....should have saved the extra hundred bucks

I bought a green flashlight with mount attachments that uses an 18650 battery on eBay for about 15$
It shines about 200 yards. Came with a pressure switch also

With my Photon 3.5X (since replaced by the Photon XT) and the on-board illuminator I can see 85-100 yards with no moon, maybe a little more. With the UNV 20-IR I can see a bit farther, but I'd debate if it's really needed. If you're hunting between the 1st and 3rd quarter of the moon, and the moon is high, you probably don't need additional illumination at all in the open. The illumination is very helpful in the shadows, however. I've never successfully hunted with a spotlight, but I have set out motion lights at a feeder. Even with white motion lights the hogs don't seem to be bothered, and even something like THIS from Harbor Freight puts out sufficient light to see a hog in my scope cross hairs.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Green light came in, looks like it's gonna work great if I can figure out how to mount it! The mount it came with is too short. Anyone know where to get a spacer or longer mount for these?
