I am looking into going on a bear/ fishing combo hunt in Alaska next May (2017). Does anyone have any recommendations for outfitters?

Kodiak on here lives up there and would be someone to contact about hunting up there.

I'm doing a DIY black bear hunt on Kuiu Island this fall (so I can combine with deer and wolves, if I see any). This will be my first trip to Alaska, so I don't have much advise other than:
I'm guessing you are talking about blackies, a quick google search will turn up more outfitters than you can shake a stick at. You can check a few of them out to see if they have references listed (or request references) and call some people that have been with them.
Will be curious what Kodiak has to say about it.

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, I am referring to a black bear hunt. Yes, I would be interested in what Kodak suggests.

You should look in the outfitter section as well. Also search for bear hunt topics that have been posted. I saw one recently that looked very nice. Hunting from a very nice ship by boat to get to the hunting grounds and fishing as well.

You should take a look at Wilderness Enterprises ( http://www.wildernessenterprises.com). I know one of their guides. I am in the process of booking a 2017 mountain goat hunt with them.

May is still traditionally early, on average years the bears aren't out until mid may but this winter has been mild and spring came early. My advise would be to glass the tidal grass flats in the back of bays early morning and evenings. I have no suggestion for an outfitter. Identify the area that you are wanting to travel to and then begin to research a local outfitter. I highly recommend that you look over the F&G regulation thoroughly as Alaska is quick to get you on violation and have special salvage requirements. I'd gladly answer any other questions you may have.
