I have been trying out some new Berger 130 gr. VLD-Hunting bullets for my 6.5 Grendel, loaded by Precision Firearms. This is the 2nd hog that I have taken with this ammo for which I have been able to do an exam of some of the damage by the bullet.

All in all, the Berger performed very well this time, getting much better penetration than I would have expected from a frangible bullet.

Another great video and good shooting. last trip to the lease I had to work around the cows to get shots. The pigs were mingled in with the cows and I saw piglets within feet of the cows.

Yes, at the 2200-2300 fps velocity with the 130 grain out of the Grendel, that's not a lot of speed to cause a large bullet upset. So, it should hold together very well and penetrate really well.

how does the 130 VLD-H shoot? Loaded to mag length in the Grendel, I would think you would have a large jump. The 130 grain AR Hybrid bullets would be about ideal for the Grendel.

I am getting just over 2400 fps out of this round from my rifle. Depending on the day I shoot, the groups range from about .75" to 1.25". Here is a pic of a previous hog I shot through the neck. It produced an absolutely cavernous wound that I literally put my fist into.

Oddly, that hog was not dead and I had to put a pistol round into its forehead.

Performance seems variable.

Great video! I like seeing the results from different bullets just as you showed. One of my favorite things to do when skinning game is to trace the path of the bullet, usually using a arrow shaft, gives you an idea of how the bullet reacts when it hits the target and all its varying parts

Really like the 'white hot' in that setting. I know you generally use 'black hot' but seems that white hot provided more 'detail', where black hot tends to produce just silhouettes.

Good shooting. That cow probably heard the bullet buzz by along with the rifle report. Perfectly safe though.

Very interesting; thanks for sharing. I'm working on some loads for the Berger VLD in 170 grains for my .270 Win. So far, there appears to be some real possibilities for great accuracy at the range. I'll be punching one into a porker as soon as I get a load worked out that I feel comfortable with, and I'll share it.
