Well summer is around the corner and I have an itch for another carry gun. I've been carrying a G19 a couple years but now I've decided I want something a little smaller. I know I could go with a a G43, but I think I want something similar to a 1911 style gun (Kimber Solo,Micro) Caliber is not really a concern. So what are some of your opinions or options out there.

Haven't been very impressed with the small kimbers. Very picky on ammo and still not 100% reliable at least the two I've owned neither lasted very long.

I'd suggest taking a look at what Kahr has to offer.

Sig Sauer P238 is basically a mini 1911 in .380.

Probably a 938. If going very small then the 238 or the Kahr.

I found this article about stopping power to be interesting. As with all "studies" read it and make your own call about how accurate you think it is.

When I don't carry my Glocks, I carry a small PM40. It will fit anywhere and I can carry it with gym shorts and a T shirt.

My dad bought my mom a Glock 43 for Easter, and I put about 150 rounds through it yesterday. I don't like glocks, but I was thoroughly impressed by this piece. I was able to shoot 2" groups at 10 yards, something I am not able to do with a ruger lcp or sig p238. Haven't tried their 9mm equivalents fhough. But after shooting moms, I will be purchasing my first glock.

I think I've gone through at least 8 different carry guns over the years. Never tried a 1911 style because there are typically heavier and have more snag-able features.

I finally ended up with a G43 and can't really see myself changing from this. Only way I see myself ever going away from the G43 is if Glock comes out with a newer/improved model.

Glock 43. Love it. Accurate. Reliable. When summertime hit's, then I'll switch over to my Kahr CW380.

I was surprised at how accurate a 10 ounce pistol is.

My Kel Tec P-3AT does. I love it. Lightweight, reliable, affordable, incredibly easy to conceal. My only complaint is accuracy due to the stiff trigger pull, but I wouldn't be shooting at anybody outside of it's useable range anyway.

Don't pay any attention to the anti .380 crowd
I have a Kimber Micro Carry, after break-in (like ANY semi auto). I have had no functioning issues whatsoever. I shoot 95gr XTP Fiocchi, never a problem, and will kill a bad guy dead as a hammer

PLUS, its so easy, you WILL carry it. Most 9's and .45's are to heavy when fully loaded, you end up not carrying it. I don't care who says what, holsters are a pain in the azz to jack with, except maybe a paddle style which is easy on easy off.

Sig 938. Same size (damn near, within 1/4" at most, the same holsters fit) as a 238.
It's a colt mustang more or less but it works. :-)

6 + 1, tiny tiny tiny but really shootable. Honestly first time I had it I was scared, but it's a nothing, it shoots great.
Carry mine every day in my pocket (it really is small)

usually around $600

I have a Benjamin air gun that shoots .177" pellets. Before you tell me it's not a good self defense weapon you gotta stand in front of me and let me pump it up nine times and give you a good thump in the chest. Then you can talk trash about the much maligned .177-cal.

I have read several articles about how California is becoming very concerned about airguns, shooters are practicing gun skills and airguns are legal.

I carry a Colt Defender all day every day and have no issues. Carries well in an OWB DM Bullard with dm Bullard belt. Only time I can tell it's there is when I'm in the truck. That said I'm able to rotate it from 4:00(normal) to 3:30 when driving which makes it comfortable. Weight of the gun isn't an issue.

If you want to lighter I would look at the shield.
