I really like the just one pack, and think that is what I am leaning toward. Isn't that what you had on last years trip Cleric?

Scary stuff Mr. T. Glad you got back fairly safe. I agree. And a incapacitating injury to you when no one knows where you are or when to expect you might make a guy real happy he packed in some emergency gear. Maybe even some gasoline for a signal fire (just kidding)

Sneaky is the de facto leader. I think he is waiting till closer to make a decision on going. Most people in the 2015 people are in the same place. I am about the only that's for sure (and all things can change)
There is really not much prep that has to happen. Sneaky had posted a gear list. Have what you need and be ready to go. Only thing we need to know is who is first and can secure camp site

I am a for sure as well as I do already have the time off to go. The only thing that may stop me is a work conference that same week. I'll know more as time approaches but as for now I am going.

about the only long lead thing is getting is shape, start 3+ months in advance. That in itself can be killer without proper preparation!

Elk hunting and this great group quickly get in your blood. I regret not being able to go and know this will only get worse as October closes in. If you have a desire and opportunity I sure recommend you go.

Ill try to find out what areas he is looking at, and see how close it is to yall. We were looking at bow season, but I think we may be switching over to gun. I can legally crossbow hunt there, but he cant. We are only looking at one tag though, afraid we cant physically pack out more than elk if we got two. Plus it being our first time, will be lucky to get one anyways.

I never said anything about not getting a tag. If We were to cross bow, there would only be one tag, one crossbow and me with it. He would not have his crossbow, he would be there helping me carry/track, ect. I actually have arm impairment, so would qualify for crossbow.
I am trying to talk him into going gun season and us both getting tags-incase one gets a chance when other isn't around. Plus, I think we might be lucky to see Elk, let alone get close enough to hit with bow.

I let my deer lease go, so that helps my chances a lot. I may be hiring on with a different outfit that has steadier work, too. So, I'm thinking there's a decent chance I can make it.

Sorry to hear about your lease Sneaky, but you still have dove hunting at the house. I haven't had a lease since 2004 or so, just hunt my 15 acres. Miss the turkey hunting, but sure makes the Elk trip extra nice. You'll get there if you can get the time off, you have all you need other than the tag

sorry did not read it all, are you talking CO. or NM. have hunted both with rifle, bow, smoke pole. I would like to go was even thinking of going it alone in the NM draw.

Hey Cleric, you can add me to that list too! As of right now I am still planning on going. I just hope work keeps fairly steady. We are actually pretty busy compared to other people in our oil related industry. I am heading to Israel on Monday for a short trip.
