I have been gearing up getting ready to do some turkey hunting in a gated community that allows hunting in my area. A few days ago, one of the residents that i know mentioned that they received an email telling them that turkey pox has been detected in the flocks of the community. What i am wondering is, does this affect the hunting or the meat? Should i just avoid them?

Just practice the usual cleaning and cooking recommendations.

Clean and refrigerate/freeze as soon as possible after the harvest

Cook to the proper internal temperature

Clean hands and tools with hot water and disinfectant soap.

You should be fine
