I have also found that attorneys are generally reluctant to sue other attorneys. You could always make a complaint to the state bar.

Unfortunately, it's a whole lot cheaper to file suit vs defending a suit. Standard practice is to file against anyone with a connection and then figure out who's guilty.

I agree with the previous comment about insurance being your answer, particularly with a group policy type of an arrangement offered via a trade organization, like the NRA. Generally, if you need to make a claim for something similar, you can expect the insurance company to then jump in to get the equivalent of what they had to pay out to you, plus... from the plaintiff.

I don't believe I would change my name, but I would definitely investigate the insurance option.

New company name: "Lawyer Proof Ammo"

Just for the sake of curiosity, I just did a quick search with google.

There are three companies with similar names in the same geographic area and same area code.

Seems like a distinctive name would help avoid some of these problems in the future.

Update- Good News! My company is finally off the case!! An amended complaint was filed which does not include any allegations against my company! Now, I'm waiting on the final bill from the lawyer. Can't wait!!!

Congratulations.

Great news chad, sucks you had to pay for lawyer, but glad you cleared your name!

Had a high school buddy that got into making ladder stands for deer hunting. It's a company name you would remember. He made tons of money and had a good product. BUT a guy that was admittedly blind drunk fell out of one of the stands his company produced and sued him for big bucks. After settling out of court, he shut down the business.

Heck, I know a woman that sues folks all the time over nothing. She settles out of court and goes on to the next make-believe law suit. I worked with her for years, but no way would I ever let her on our property. Who can ya trust these days?

Sucks man. On of the scariest things when I had a home inspection business. It sucks for the small man sometimes just trying to make it.

Lawyers would do a lot more homework first if we weren't one of the very few 1st world countries that doesn't have loser pays all attorneys' fees.
