ok, so i passed my concealed course, and now i looking for a good ccw. i currently have a full size 1911. as much as i would like to carry it, i think its too big. so I'm trying to find something different. i know my options are endless. but what i have narrowed it down to are these. springfield xd mod 2 in 9 or 45, glock 19 which i think might be a little big, and my personal favorite is the sig p938 extreme. its on the high end of price point... but it most reminds me of my 1911. I've also considered a shield.. guys please help me out with the decision. thanks

I have the Sig P290 Nitron 9 mm with both a 6 and 8 shot magazine, coupled it with the DeSantis leather #028 concealed carry holster and love both of them. Once I got used to the longer trigger pull on the P290, I found I could pretty much stack them on B 27 target.

Glock 19 is what I CC. Sometimes a P226 with tac light, but that's a rare occasion and usually only when I'm going to dinner before work. If you like the operation of a 1911 then I don't think you can go wrong with the 938. My wife CC's a 938, and I have to say it's got to be the best small frame 380 I've ever shot. Might look at a 3.5 inch 1911 also, they are smaller than a Glock 19.

I've got the Glock M19 & the M43. The 43 is excellent for cc. However if you favor a 1911, the Sig P938 is just an awesome lil weapon.

For pocket carry you might consider the S&W 380 Bodyguard and for IWB the S&W Shield gets very good reviews. Check out youtube for some comparisons.
I am still getting used to IWB carry but the pocket carry of the 380 is now 2nd nature just like a wallet.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

go to a range that will let you rent all three of them. You do not need the smallest gun to conceal it. 19 is about the smallest gun I can shoot accurately

G26 with +2 mag extensions. I have big hands and have no trouble. Pair that with a StealthGear USA IWB holster and you're in business.

Glock 27 IWB Appendix carry. Thinking about moving up to the Glock 23 because I like the bigger grip, but it might be just a tad too long for Appendix carry. The G27 with the pinky extensions does fine though.

Glock 36 which is a single stack 45 ACP with a DeSantis pocket holster is worth a look and will feel comfortable and familiar coming from a 1911.
The 1911 with a Milt Sparks VM2 is surprisingly comfortable to carry as well.

I've carried a Colt Defender for a very long time, tried an XDS 45 but went back to the Defender. Nothing says stop better then a 45ACP

Have you considered the XDs?

If you're a 1911 person and usually carry in Condition 1, i'd go with the Sig p938. It's what you know, what you're comfortable with and is a proven design. jmho

went and shot a few today, what was available at the range. i like the 938 a lot, and it directly matches my 1911. but.. i also like the xd mod 2. they didn't have a mod 2 45 at the range, but my wife shoots a mod 2 9mm, so atlas i knew what that felt like. i think its down to the 938, and the 2 xd mod 2's. i have a hard time justifying a 9mm for the amount the 938 costs. when for 170 less i can be in a 45 or 9 in the xd mod 2. i just don't know how i feel about the short barrel mod 2 in such a big caliber.... thoughts?

Hope you don't get the same sickness I have. When I took my class I did so with a 1911 Commander and expected to carry a XDs also in .45. I'm probably weeks away from getting the license and I uh added a .357 LCR, .38 Detective Special, 9mm Ruger LC9s, and another 1911 (S/A Champion Operator) - and holsters for all...yeah, I got a problem.

All good guns, BUT, if you are really gonna carry everyday, you need something like this. Kimber Micro Carry. I carry it everywhere I go. If I feel I need more "range" I'll take a rifle. I tried the XDS .45 ACP, all it did was pull my pants down. If anyone says the .380 is puny, Read the Lucky Gunner.com test. Or you can stand in front of mine and tell us if the 95gr XTP feels puny. Just sayin, if you go small you WILL carry for the longer range encounters

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the xd mod 2 in 45 i just think that will be the best platform for the money.

I've carried a Colt Defender for a very long time, tried an XDS 45 but went back to the Defender. Nothing says stop better then a 45ACP I might be tempted to say that about a good, higher energy round like .357/.44mag....... My mid-comact size 9mm gives me 15 rounds, of decent energy with +P+. But, for immediate stopping authority, my magnum revolvers get my vote - when I'm willing to carry a gun with fewer than 15 rounds.
A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.
