I wonder if you picked up some "venison" from a butcher if the scent would be similar. Surely some meat would have blood in it. Theye usually process exotic deer as venison, but deer blood is deer blood right?

I thought about draining some blood from some of my frozen meat as I thaw it before cooking and using it.

Where do you live? Go to the local meat market and they might have some exotics in there for processing. I'm sure they'd be willing to help out!

I'm asking this question because I don't know the answer for a Lacy, but do you really need "deer" blood? I would think that training a tracking dog would involve using many scents to teach them to track & find what you put them on. I literally taught my first GSP to hunt dead by hiding goldfish crackers outside and teaching the term "DEAD" to find them. Once we got on birds, he knew DEAD meant "search" and started finding birds no problem. I would think any kind of blood would work?

If this is the case, chicken livers come in a tub of blood and are cheap cheap cheap

I've been talking to a bunch of Lacy trainers and they are telling me that beef blood will work. I bought a package of beef livers yesterday and plan on blending them up and mixing in a little blood that I drain off of my frozen venison and using it. All of those guys are telling me that will work just fine. Cant wait to get her on some blood this evening.
I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

If you can figure out a way to get it, I have some water bottles frozen with deer blood. I'd be willing to give you one. You can dilute it with water to make it go farther. I'm in Benbrook. I use it for training.

That works, have done it many times and diluted it with water so it would go further. Another member on here uses ground deer in a sock for a drag. I have also drug a part of a deer liver for over 300 yards for my dog and finding it was no problem for him. Beef liver also works
