I bought a Foxpro FX3 when they were the latest and greatest and I think it's time to retire it and get a new one. I've always felt the Foxpro's remote range was lacking. Now I see many e-callers that boast 200+ yard and non-LOS ranges. What experience does anyone have with newer, longer ranged e-callers? Also, having a remote range of a mile is useless if the sound is reminiscent of a vinyl record. I would appreciate any input regarding newer e-callers.

No insight on the new callers but I'm with you, the range on the foxpro I have sucks, especially when the batteries get low.

Just saying, have an old FOXPRO 416B. Which I have had for probably 10+ years. Don't use it a lot as prefer mouth calls. But have checked its remote range every year before start of varmint hunting season just to be sure. Call and my "custom homemade" FoxPro activated decoy still activate and respond to my remote out past 200 yards. Have stepped it off and used range finder. So I know it still reaches out there. Like I said its old, but still works and reaches out there when I want or need it to........

I have an FX 3 and a Crossfire and both work well out to 100 yards. Never tried it any further

100 yrds is all I'm getting. 200 is awesome but not with my unit.

I tested my old Fury once on a power line and it worked fine at 400 yards as long as the caller was a couple of feet off the ground.
I now use the Fusion with external speaker but also have a Krakatoa and both will work as far as I personally have had need for them two..... I probaly have used it out to about 150 yards.
To get best performance with my ecaller I always try to get it above ground level if possible and hold the remote a little away from your body for best results.

But does the fact it is prerecorded not warn off the animals? If it is the same call over and over I cant see how that is effective. Part of the reason I have yet to drop the money on one I guess.

I would hazard a guess that 80-90% of the predators called in are by ecallers these days and about that same percentage are Foxpro from what I have seen and read.

This weekend between guiding Turkey hunters I called in these predator with a Foxpro Fusion.
So high quality recorded sounds seems to be doing OK by me.

I hunt particularly flat land and getting a caller up off the ground isn't practical/possible. I'm just wondering if the new callers live up (or at least closely) to their ad claims. Also, I guess my FX3's remote system must have either been older because it wouldn't work any more than about 40-50 yards out. I also remember discussing that with others on THF and it being the norm.

My wildfire easily reaches to 100 yrds with a clear line of sight. I keep mine under fifty that way I can get em as close as possible. If you happen to miss the first shot you have a better chance at getting off another before they are gone.

Anyone have any experience with the Alpha Dogg from Primos?

If I were to go in another direction and not use Foxpro it would be this one.

I have a Turbo Dog that I am very disappointed with. About 40 yards, with clear line of sight is about the Max...and I mean CLEAR Line of sight. If you set it on the ground, grass and weeds will keep it from responding reliably at 40 yards.
