OK, it is just a hair shy of 200, right at 197 from the muzzle to bullet trap. I have a 5'x8' elevated prone platform made from a really solid pallet, covered with Masonite siding. Next to it is a roof barricade made from another pallet and covered with tin. And yes, that roof barricade is one slick mother, a humbling experience. The bullet trap is a 1/2" thick copolymer polypro box, 24"x24"x40" tall. It has a 1/4" piece of steel in the rear and the rest is filled with sand. I have a smaller version of this on my 100 yard range and after 800 or 1000 rounds of centerfire rifle it still does not let bullets out. I also have plenty of AR-500 steel to set up too. This is out where I work. My boss owns part of the lot where our business is, and my brother-in-law owns the rest of it, the part both my ranges sit on. So yeah, pretty cool to just be able to carry your rifles to work with you and shoot any time you want during breaks.

My job does have a few perks, LMAO!
I can't just walk outside anytime I want. But a zero check or a few practice rounds during morning or afternoon break is good to go, as well as load testing during lunch. Then of course I have whatever time I want evenings and weekends too. It is only 2 miles from my house.

Good place to do load development.
Academy sells a 9' umbrella that is a nice quick way to set up some shade. That's what I used to do, before having the new range and covered platform. I can handle 100° if I can get in the shade.

I have a couple squares of shingles I can put on that roof section if the tin just doesn't work out, but dang that would make it heavy. I wanted to be able to have it somewhat portable to take out in the country to do a shoot with some friends a couple times a year. The tin will get hot for sure, but so do shingles. Ain't nothing cool up here in the summer. That tin is lots slicker than you think it is too. It is a real challenge, if that is the kind of thing you are into. A vocabulary expander, that is what I call it.

Yeah, it really is good for numerous things, like getting a really solid cold bore zero. I can walk out at break, and fire one shot. Come back that afternoon and do it again. Do that 10 times in a week, and you really know for sure where that first cold shot goes. I really like being able to do that for any kind of rifle where it is the first shot that really matters. There is all kinds of simple testing too that doesn't require a long range trip. I can shoot a group in the morning, go home at lunch and load five more test rounds, come back and shoot them that afternoon. Lots of practice too, where you don't get a chance to "get warmed up." You have 2-3 shots, you have to hit it cold. Being able to do things like that has made me a much better shot on game, especially coyotes. I do a ton of shooting off sticks and from field positions too. Sometimes I throw Jezebel out there at random distances and practice shooting at her from odd angles, off sticks. This is her when she was new, before she got all chewed up. She is true actual size, with a piece of 4" steel for vitals.

If you ever get bored with your 200yd limit, you can use some sub-sonic ammo. That makes your 200yd shot somewhat similar to a 600yd shot with regular ammo...

Big Fitz, I knew it was gonna be slick, and I still wasn't prepared for it the first time. I'm probably going to have to add some extra screws into it just so a guys boots have somewhere to grab.
