Gander Mountain in Mesquite has a Savage Bmag on the used gun shelf. I did not ask the price but my guess is they are asking $250. 17WSM ammo is easy to find. May be worth calling them to ask how much they want for the gun.

Take a look at the "Legacy Arms" Howa line of rifles. Great price point and offer in
Standard and Heavy barrel option's. Not sure if they go down into the Rimfire class
but definitely offer .22 caliber centerfire and up.

If you go with a .17 caliber I would recommend the .17wsm. I would look at a 22-250 as well so you can knock down pigs

Savage Axis .223 is another one to add to your list; accurate way beyond it's 'new' price and prolly cheaper than anything you'll find here used.
(especially if you catch the rebate on one now http://www.savagearms.com/promotions/ :
Trigger is easily 'tweakable' (for just few minutes of time) to make ideal.
.223 will reach out better than rimfires, more accurate at distance, & eliminate 'walk-offs' on bigger critters.
plus, WIDE RANGE of ammo ALWAYS available and fairly cheap.
