This is the first draft of the 2016 schedule, likely to change. The spring clinics that are in stone are in green. The august clinics are in red. I started seeing snakes at the house already. The news has been screaming about rattlesnakes in Galveston. Their big question is "where did they come from" when all the while they have been there since before man came here.

I am looking forward to the 2016 season to kick off. Hope to see you at any of the clinics. Be sure you tell me you're on The Texas Hunting Forum when you introduce yourselves.

How old do the dogs need to be? My pup will be about 8 months old at the time of the Weatherford clinic.

I always say choose the lesser evil when age is a factor. B that I mean if you have a 6 month old pup and you're going to be in known snake country, get it done. If your pup is going to be at a trainer's and not going to be in a known snake environment then hold off. Let the trainer do their thing and we can tune the dog up before you go hunting.

I have no science to back this up so take it or leave it, this is for discussion purposes. I like getting them at 6 months old. That way more than likely they have never had the joy they get from discovering a snake before they visit my clinic. I somehow feel if the first encounter they have with a snake involves electricity, the better the chances of a lifelong negative impact. So if I get the dog at 6 months and the dog comes back in consecutive years we have a chance that every encounter the dog has in its young life are absolutely horrifying. I feel the dog has a better chance at never wanting to investigate.

Remember there is ZERO science in that statement. I would like Angie and other trainers to weigh in here. It just seems to make sense that every time you put a finger on the table and someone whacks you with a hammer, soon you will no longer put your finger on the table. Like my cousin that said hold this drift bar while I hit it with a baby sledge hammer and all the while he said "Trust me I won't miss". He broke my freakin hand and never ever have I held a drift while someone else takes a whack at it with a hammer. I was a one and done kind of guy. I somehow feels if we get them young, we can produce the one and done results.
