Probaly a dumb question for all the exotic guys, but will an axis deer stay in a low fence. Just wondering if they will jump the fence or will they just look for a hole to climb under. I ask this cause I seen some axis does not long ago in a low fence area. I didn't know if maybe they was just escapees from a game ranch or someone possibly put them there.

Axis are found free ranging throughout the Hill Country and spreading every day.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

They will easily jump a low fence, Don k here on the forum I think has either a 6 or 7 foot fence and they jump it all the time. Like said above there are a lot of them free ranging and the population and range is growing. There may be more low fence axis now than there are high fence.

Thanks that answers that question, I have just never seen them out of a high fence except maybe as a pet. I look for them everyday since I seen those and haven't seen em since. But there was babies in the group so there has to be a buck somewhere.

As has been mentioned their are thousands of them roaming around Texas on low fence pieces of land.
A true friend reaches for your hand but touches your heart.
