Looking for an east Texas deer lease in Anderson, Cherokee, Houston, Nacogdoches or counties touching them. I am a long time deer hunter and want to hunt on a managed lease that wants to take only mature bucks. Prefer a lease with a campsite that at least has electricity. Water would be great but I can manage that. I am not a BMW....bitching, moaning, whining type of member. I am there to hunt and have an enjoyable time around the camp. Thanks

There's Renfro, Malibu & Chronister that come to mind. Txduck24 on here was on Renfro last I checked, would have to ask around about finding contact info for someone on the other 2.

Chronister is closer too (Alto). I'll have to ask around to see if any of the old members I know are still on it. Word of warning though, I was contacted about the land being for sale a couple years ago and to my knowledge it's still for sale.

Hey rifleman. I wonder why they would want to sell it. If it is like the rest of ET land, they are cutting like crazy. Maybe they have cut all they want????? Thanks.

The investment group that bought it is still paying on it and needs the $ since the timber market isn't what it was. If you pull up landsoftexas, jeffersonproperties, walshbrokers, unitedcountry, etc you'll find a lot of the old Temple properties.

Wow. I am amazed they are doing that. But it is just business to them. I wonder if they do split it and sell smaller sections they will offer it for deer leases. I bet they would. They would be looking for income any way they can get it. Of course depending on who buys it. At the same time they might not be able to sell it regardless after looking at the price they want for the 197 acres. I probably need to put my focus on another area. Thanks for all your help. If you hear of a club that needs a good member keep me in mind.

If a company buys it they'll probably lease. If an individual does you'd better be close friend/family. It could take years to sell though so great hunting until then. Seems Devil's Bayou is good one up around Wells (like Chronister) and there's Loco Bayou out around Lake Nac.

I talked to the VP of Devils Bayou...nice guy. Sounds like they have a good lease but it is VERY pricey for East Texas. They have strict criteria for the bucks they take and I like that but they only took one buck last season. Not much bang for the buck. No pun intended. But I dont mean to be critical. Just that at this point it would not be my first choice. Will try to find something on Loco Bayou. Thx.

Eason Lake & Pine Island are over around Malibu, but if you think Devil's Bayou is expensive you'd better hold onto your hat on those 2.

I know, it is getting hard to find a lease and when you do the price is outrageous. But I really enjoy hunting even tho it is not all about the kill anymore. And if I do make a kill I want it to be a good buck. So, it just comes down how much is it worth to you. I guess thats the rub. Nothing is cheap anymore.

For the record 3 bucks were killed on DB last year. Only one over 150", a3.5 yr old 8pt that scored in mid 140's and a 2.5 yr old barely legal 8pt were also killed. And Tim is correct it is Pricey! It's even more pricey if you are an unemployed oilfield worker like I am. I had to hustle to pay my dues. I'm not complaining just relieved that I'm paid up for another year. Good luck TimA. If I hear of anything I will let you know.

Sorry Tuff. Did not mean to mislead anyone. I know you have a great place to hunt. I hope you dont hold this against me if I contact you next year and try to get on your lease. Thanks.

Go to www.cglease.com and click on the available membership tab. There is a list of counties with hunting clubs that have openings you can check on.

Thanks Russ. I am already on that and look at it frequently. You are right. It is a good way to find a lease.
