Need some help/advice. I had soil samples tested for some food plots I want to put in while having a sample tested for my pasture. Of course they came back showing a pH in the mid-5's, so lime is needed. I know that it can take up to six months for lime to start having some effect, but now is better than not doing it even if I want to plant in about a month. Some years ago I bought bags of powdered lime and put out by hand on some plots on a different lease- that was messy and time consuming. I now have a tractor, disc, and spreader and would like to do this myself. We only have one place in our area that sells bulk lime and he is real busy putting out fertilizer for customers. So my only other choice at this time is do it myself. So I am looking at pelletized lime because I can put it out with my spreader. I know that the pelletized form will probably take longer to incorporate into the soil than the powdered lime, but other than that is there any problem with using the pelletized lime.

No problems using pelletized at all, just be sure to read the label & put it out at the correct rate.
It is all I've used in years.

I wonder if that is limited to three bags only, or if it $9 for every multiple of three. I need about 60 bags.

It's $3 a bag, no matter the purchase. I just went and got 25 bags (Thanks Jim!)

My question, when is the best time to throw this down for a fall plot? June-ish? Planning on planting in mid September.

Stock up tractor supply usually only has it during spring time. Put it down when you disc. We round up first. Then when we disc we put down lime and fertilizer, spread seed and drag.
