Been looking at suppressors the last few months trying to decide which route to go.. Brother got a Specwar762 late last year & has been very pleased with it but that's the extent of my experience with them.. A friend of mine sent me a link to the '$100 suppressor' thread on AR-15.com & said he's built 3 of them w/ no problem.. All above board, has all the appropriate stamps, etc.. He's offered to help me put a couple together but I'm wondering about how they compare to commercially produced suppressors.. The intrigue for me is being able to build 3 (said his actually cost around $200-$250 each) for roughly the cost of one commercial can.. Appreciate any thoughts/experience on the subject.. https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/169368...2_10_in_OP.html

I would like to try one of these but I do not have the tools to do this on my own.

I'd be interested in hearing some more details as well. Like above, don't quite have the tools to actually build it though.

not as quiet as a production one but they work. they are also usually heavier depending on materials you use.

I'd build a .22 can if I had the know-how.

Diversified Machine has full kits with almost everything done so you can build one. I think all you need is a drill press (or a drill and a steady hand to finish drilling the holes for it. Even offer a MAAD or YHM mounts if you already have those. Good prices too. http://diversifiedmachine.info/

There is no excuse for any suppressor to cost more than 100 bucks or so.
Kind regards, charlesb
