I've been sitting here for 21 out of the last 23 hours hoping to see some hogs and nothing yet.. Dozed off for a few hours last night and am positive one came in because one of the piles of corn was gone and there was fresh tracks.. Only looked like one, probably a boar... I'm still here patiently waiting until I have to hit the road and head home...

I am trying to be but my patience is starting to wear thin and boredom is setting in... I am 2 hours from the beginning of good activity so at this point it's like do I wait it out and see what happens or make the drive and get a decent night sleep confused2

Depends on what time the hog showed last night. Should come earlier tonight if it knows there's is more corn

Well he or his friends have until about 8..9 latest to make it to the party and then I'm out.. I'll try and post some pics in the morning if I'm lucky enough to connect.

Driveway monitor if you are far enough away that it won't scare the hog. If you're close, I can't help you.

Good luck !

You mean an alarm? I had one set up and it was working good until some point in the night.. Everything was setting it off birds, squirrels, etc.. So I was pretty confident. Then I dozed off. So what I think happend was either he came in through the woods straight to the pile I made and didn't go to the feeder so he didn't trip the sensor, or the batteries were just dead so it didn't matter anyway.. Oh well ya live and ya learn. Can't rely on technology and can't shoot stuff while you're sleeping

Well he came back and was a lone boar as suspected.. Showed up at about 630-645 so it was already too dark too see it just heard him coming through the trees.. Switched on the night vision and as soon as I laid eyes on him my heart started racing and I started shaking uncontrollably... So naturally I did exactly what your not suppose to do and rushed the shot because I didn't want him to take off and I missed.. Not the ending I was hoping for but it was a beautiful weekend in the woods and I got my chance, you can't ask for much more

Well you see the funny thing about that is I put Vidor because I was trying to explain to my wife where I was at and that stuck in my head when I posted that, I was actually about an hour or so away in Toledo Bend.. Hogs are great there. I think there are a few guys that hunt in or around Vidor though maybe one of them will chime in

Several (quite a few) decades ago my folks bought a couple of acres or so on the Neches Rives between Lakeview and Evedale. It was roughly a mile up the river from Weiss Bluff for those familiar with the area. Further up the river and across it was mostly land belonging to paper companies, meaning it was unoccupied and had basically no road access. We'd go in by boat as teenagers and hunt with shotguns and .22 rifles. My brother was out with some friends and encountered a sounder of hogs once. We, being essentially city boys (although we were Eagle Scouts and pretty comfortable in the woods), and not knowing about feral hogs just assumed they belonged to someone and never hunted them. But, they were clearly around that area north of Vidor back in the 60's & 70's.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

Like someone else mentioned a driveway alarm. I opened it up and disabled the audible tone. So I just get the flashing red light. Batteries last months. I've had good luck with it. Almost like watching a cork, just waiting on it to go under.
