Took my buddy and his son hog hunting this weekend. My buddy has never hunted before, so he was amped up to say the least. He ended up shooting two sows. He took both with my 300 Blackout using Barnes 110 grain Tac Tx. One sow was DRT and the other ran about 30 yards. He son was just a bit too nervous to shoot one, but maybe next time.

I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Good to hear a positive story about killing hogs with a 300BO. I've had mixed results since getting my 300BO a couple of months ago. Out of 3 hogs shot, only one made it to the dinner table. One wounded and ran off never to be found while hunting down a 2nd hog shot at the same time. On a different day, another ran about 50 yds into thick brush and I didn't find her till about 6 hours later with the help of the buzzards, so didn't take the meat. I'm using the same Barnes rounds.
Prior to the 300BO, I dropped hogs almost in their tracks with a 30/30 (cheap non-expanding round) and a 9mm pistol with home defense rounds.
Going to stick with the AR for now and see how it goes before changing to another gun, but I'm starting to wonder if I should have gone 6.8 SPC.

Haven't lost a pig with it yet and so far I've stretched it out to 165 yrds on a big boar. Just gotta hit them where you're supposed to, very impressed with that Barnes bullet. To the OP, way to go man!
