My youngest son went coon hunting for the first time last night. He had a blast. I grew up coon hunting but with the country becoming more of the city around where we live I don't keep a dog anymore. Got a invite to go with a friend so I took him. Oldest son has been several times and has just as much fun as if it was the first time he went. Should of got a pic of them with the dog but I didn't think about it...

Looks like a great time! Love to see the young ones out and hunting. Out of curiosity, what sort of hound was it? Growing up my uncle bred beautiful treeing walkers, they always make me nostalgic

I grew up hunting walkers. The dog we hunted last night was a black and tan. She is a good one. Don't usually turn her loose and not tree one.

She sounds like a good hound and what a fun time. Nothing quite like being in the woods at night.

Brings back a few fond memories. I went on my first coon hunt about that age.
A clear conscience is often the sign of a fuzzy memory.

Yep, some fond memories. I had a Bluetick gyp back in the 80's. She was one of the best around. When she died of old age I never replaced her because I knew I'd never find one as good as she was. Plus times were changing with new land owners moving in and they were not as understanding as the old timers were when dogs accidently crossed property lines. It's good to hear of someone still coon hunting with hounds. Your kids will never forget the adventures!

Exactly why I pretty much quit. Good times but no big woods left around here and houses have been built almost on all the small creeks we always hunted. Still a few places left to go though.

Man what I would give to hear a rolling bawl mouth treeing walker on a hot track one more time.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!
