Attempting to enter the NM trophy elk draw.. I have an outfitter that I will enter into a contract and be able to use his license number. My odds then will be maybe as good as winning the Powerball!

Good luck. I have friends in NM that haven't been able to draw over the past few years.

Hope you get it. It's a long shot for the better units, but it's more than possible.

Thanks Sneaky and Cleric. I am applying for section 34-36. The outfitter comes highly recommended by a friend I have a great deal of respect and confidence in.

I got the application done last evening. The outfitters number is in place. He told me most don't think it makes much difference. We'll see. clap

Good luck Joe, could work out very well, never know. I used to know a couple fellas from SW Texas that would draw a bow hunt in the Gila about every 3rd year, they would hunt Colorado the other years (strictly bow hunters though) I generally would see them in Colorado on the years they didn't draw NM

Thanks guys..One of the slots I put in for is for muzzleloading season. The outfitter said this was a great hunt and the elk are crazy about then. Guess I better be prepared to shake out the cobwebs from my muzzleloader.. up

You may have a better chance getting drawn for a muzzy tag. Several good units too! I took this puppy several years ago in Unit 15!

have tried twice, drawn twice in #48 B-P and bow.
first time i heard one beller he was 30-40 yards, made the hair on my neck stand up.
from what i hear #15-16 and that area have the most. i am thinking about it this year but have no one to go with.

when the going gets really tough, I sit down and rest

Well Joe, you still have Colorado. I wont draw this year either, but put in anyway (Colorado draw)for the PP and the long shot.
