Hey folks. As the spring season approaches so does our annual youth turkey hunt in Brackettville, TX. This will be our 6th straight year doing this hunt and a few of the guys from this forum have come out to help just about every year to scout and call turkeys for the youth and their parent/guardian. This year I'm trying to match up guides with youth/guardian teams before we arrive and I could use about two more volunteers to help call/guide. The meals and lodging are included and I have guys coming out of Houston, San Antonio and the DFW Metroplex if anyone needs to carpool. If you think you're interested in helping out and know for sure that you can be there please shoot me a message. Thanks guys

This hunt is a lot of fun with some great guys guiding and running the hunt. This will be my 5th year guiding and 4th helping with running the hunt. I will be leaving the Metromess of DFW early Friday March 18th and back in town usually around 8:30 to 9pm Sunday evening.

TJack, you know my number if you need something from me.

I wish this hunt were in April every year.
I'd love to help out.

I might be interested, with possibly another kid/adult duo. In H-town.

Thanks to all of you who replied to the request for guides. I think we have just about recruited the number of guys we needed. Each year we put out this request is we're short a few folks and you guys always come through. Be on the lookout for this post next years turkey hunt, and if anyone is available during the week of spring break we actually have another youth event we can use a few guides or mentors on a few days before the turkey hunt.

March 14th - 16th we are taking a group of kids to Gus Engling WMA in Tennessee Colony, TX. They will be learning about wildlife management through predator control and we will have trappers out to take them out to check traps that have been preset. We will also take them out to hunt feral hogs, so we can use a few guides to scout out areas for hog sign and setup for hunts.

Jason Hardin will be out to give updates on the eastern turkeys released in the area and we may even get to locate turkeys fitted with radio transmitters during a Telemetry exercise. It's a great event and we get to see and hear a lot of turkeys out in the field. If anyone's interested in helping out with this event or would like more details let me know. Thanks again!

Thanks to those that came out to help with this hunt, once again it was a lot of fun. Over half the kids either got a jake or had a good chance and either missed ot didn't shoot for one reason or another.

I saw this request too late last year. I would like to be a part of it next year. I get a whole lot more satisfaction out of calling a bird for someone else, rather than for myself. It would especially be more satisfying calling one in for a kid.

Thanks to each of you guys who made it out. As Kmon said it was a great event with lots of opportunity and several birds harvested. Was good to meet a couple of new guys from the forum and fellowship with some of you old heads...lol. Hoping for an even better event for next spring, and we may even be adding a second hunt for north zone as a north TX landowner just gave the go on a few kids coming to hunt his place...

I would like to get on the list to contribute next year. I have calls, decoys, ranger, camo, everything to outfit a kid and put him\her on a bird.

Enjoyed hanging out with you guys, TJ. The kiddo I guided was one that missed, but he got quite a show with a huge tom beating up my pretty boy at 13 yards out. Not all about putting a bird in the box at your NWTF Jake (youth) hunts. Every year the kids seem to have a really good time even if they don't take a bird. I never regret giving up a bit of time to help on these events.

Same here. Got all the gear and a good bit of experience of putting kids on birds.

It's always the opener for the south zone season as it usually falls on the week of spring break. I'll make a post for the next hunt...
