after looking for awhile I kind of narrowed it down to the ruger mark 111 competition or the browning buck mark cnt urx 7.2 brl. are these pretty good. I was told the ruger is a bear to clean. is there a better one

The Ruger Mark III isn't that bad to take down and clean once you have the steps down. I've owned/own both and the most accurate and reliable .22 i've ever had was a Browning Buckmark Silhouette. You really can't go wrong with either once you find out what kind of ammo it really likes.

+1 on the Ruger. Once you understand the action and how it works, reassembly is a piece of cake.

I have this one and really like it.

Ruger or kimber (and I kind of hate that I recommended the Kimber, but their 22 deserves it).

The SW 22 auto is ugly as all get out but it shoots great, so does my Ruger Mark II target.

I own both and I would recommend the Browning over the Ruger.

The primary difference is in the trigger. The Ruger needs a trigger job IMO. The Browning is perfect out of the box.

I have a Rugwr and it's an awesome gun.

I have shot the Buckmark and Ruger and only owned the Ruger, but the Ruger gets my vote. Neither is a bad gun. I have owned a 22/45 MK III (always regretted selling it), and now own a Mark III Team USA Shooting special edition. It's beautiful, accurate, and reliable.

Can't go wrong with either one. I own both and prefer the trigger on the Buckmark. You can also lighten up the pull on the Buckmark in about 5 minutes by reversing the trigger spring.

Above are good but don't pass up a clean High Standard. They made a variety of models from their Duramatic and SportKing up to several great target models such as the Victor, Supermatic, Olympia. Stay with the models made in Hamden, Conn before 1968.

Colt Woodsman is another classic.

These are outstanding firearms, but are generally a bit pricey these days.

Colt, I agree but since OP didn't mention $$$ as a restriction I wanted to bring those older models to his attention.

Owned a 22/45 that was stolen and replaced it with a Buck Mark Camper. I like the Buck Mark trigger better and I'm more accurate with it than I was with the Ruger.
