With 10 people involved one of them will do something stupid to get caught and roll on the others

There has been a roving group of smash and grab folks going around the country.

I think they hit a upscale store a couple of weeks ago in Dallas doing a similar thing.

Terrible. I hope they catch them. I am surprised they were not locked in on the rifle rack.
Wait for these to pop up on Texas Gun Trader in a few weeks...

I just hope they don't start popping up at crime scenes.

Criminals don't sell guns like that. Too much risk. They sell em to other criminals, or keep em for themselves.

I find it kind of foolish that the only thing between burglars and their quarry were some relatively flimsy metal bars. One would think it prudent to have every firearm locked in a walk-in safe or locked in position like Academy does.

They need either a new security system, guards, or location. It seems they get hit like this every year or two. Their insurance must be outrageous.

I have been calling on Carters Country for 15 years and know of one other break in.
They have the best security available without hiring full time security guards.
Mr. Carter is very security minded, it just happens when you have a big gun store.

Well, they aren't selling bagels. Maybe they should have hired a full time guard after the first break in. If I were a Houston cop, I'd be pretty ticked off having to deal with the aftermath again.

Just heard that the ATF has made several arrests and recovered a few of the guns.

Well that's good. I am sure ATF will figure out who else is involved.

Evening news said they were in and out in about 2 minutes taking 84 firearms.

A good friend was driven out of gun business by thieves. After the first time, his insurance company dropped him. A year or so later he was hit again and lost just about everything of value.

I was single at the time, and offered to camp out in his store-room with my Mossberg 500 cruiser for a few months. Later on we both regretted that he did not take me up on that offer. - I could have done the world a favor.

Kind regards, charlesb

Actually a safe is not a very good option if you have more than a handful of firearms in stock, for several reasons.

* Moving the guns in and out of the safe twice a day is time consuming.

* Safes large enough to hold a reasonable number of firearms are prohibitively expensive.

* The guns will eventually get beaten up while moving them back and forth, in and out of the safe twice a day.

* A safe will prevent a smash 'n grab - but other, more practical options exist that will do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

Kind regards, charlesb
