I purchased an AR and it was supposed to be 204 ruger. 204 Ruger will not chamber in it. I pulled the barrel off, and cannot find any markings on the barrel. I thought all barrels were supposed to be marked?

It should be engraved or stamped unless it was a blank cut and chambered but never marked. Ive had a couple blanks that i toom to the smith because i wanted a nice script engraving. Where did you get the barrel from? Is it head spaced correctly? Pics would help. Take calipers and meausre the bore.

I purchased it from Cabelas and it was labeled 204 Ruger. A 20 caliber bullet just slides right down the barrel. I cast the barrel and measured the casting. it is a 223 barrel. I called cabelas gun library. Waiting for a call back.
I really like the SWAT lower and upper this gun has, but disappointed in the caliber. I bought it because it was a 204, I dont want or need another 223.

Cabelas messed up on a gun deal and made it right for me. Gift card to make up for my drive back, etc. Put the spurs to them until they make it right.

I would advise against ever buying a used AR from Cabelas unless it is completely factory. The guys in the gun library generally know very little about ARs and mark and sell the gun based on what the seller tells them.

If cabelas buys a custom build, they essentially sell it as if the entire rifle is made by whatever company is marked on the lower. I have seen this personally on several rifles. Have pointed it out to employees and seen the tag and price unchanged when I came back later. Disappointing.

I learned a lesson the hard way. I never would have thought of them labeling it incorrectly. I really do like the SWAT Billet lower and Upper. I just want the 204 barrel. I am torn between taking it back or just getting a 204 barrel for it. Not sure what a used 24" fluted SS 223 barrel sells for, to recoup some of my money.

Barrels are relatively inexpensive when compared to the rest of the rifle. Sell the 223 barrel and buy a .204

Without knowing use and abuse or twist and mfg. Id say you could easily get a 1/3 toward a premium barrel or maybe a lil more, but could take a while. Go to ar15.com and try to do some trading.
