Thanks!

Specs:

Barrel- 22" shilen select match 1-8" got it from a forum member JPTinTX (jam up guy).

Action- savage model 11 polished blued. Gonna have bolt fluted eventually.

Stock- er shaw mark 7 take off w/pillars and has been glass bedded.

Glass- older burris signature select 8-32x50 fine cross hair

As the budget allows its going to get a Talley 20moa rail and warne mounts. Also at some point in the future new glass.

Heres a target that JTPinTX shot.

Reason i wanted the swift is i love the round, and all fast twist 22 cals. I had a 22-6ai that i toasted the barrel. The main reason being it is a whole different animal shooting the heavier 22 cal pills. The bc on the 75gr amax is .435 and the swift can push these up to 3200-3300. Meanwhile the 308 win shooting 168 smk has a bc of .462 and is running 2600-2700. Makes for easier on the shoulder, and when i stretch it out at the range.

Nice Rifle, I was looking at a Shilen barrel for a build. What made you decide on the Shilen?

Talley MOA Rails is good but put some Talley rings on top of it.... I use Talley on all my guns...best on the market in my opinion....

Shhhhhhhh better to be quiet than remove all doubt..

Makes sense to me if you're wanting to see how far you can get a .224" bullet to hit something. One of these days I may rebarrel my 77V in .220, so I might go with a bit faster than factory twist.

Lest JG starts strangling on his Dr. Pepper: NO, I don't want to shoot at steel.

I wound up with shilen for 2 reasons. I really really like their .224 cal barrels. And it was readily available no wait and got a great deal from a forum member

The Shilen I have chambered in .22-250 with 1:8 twist is...meh. Get a bullet to hit rifling and you'll see 3 rifling marks, instead of 5. Guess I got a low end one.

Next .224 barrel will be cut rifled and chambered by my Smith.

I was once told that the help at the Shilen facility was pretty much second rate and that many barrels were being fitted with the tapered end of the bore at the breach rather than the muzzle. I wouldn't say one way or the other because I don't know, but...

If money is not a factor i go krieger and bartlein has been good to me in two 6mm's. I cant say ive ever had a bad shilen and haven been more than pleased. Off the top of myhead all have held a consistent half moa easy. The ar-10 i had built i was talked into the shilen select match instead of the krieger and its extremely accurate. Maybe ive been lucky, but i think a lemon does get out from even the cut rifled guys.

I have had 2 Shilen barrels. The one on my 7x57 is OK, nothing spectacular. But that one that Jorge has, there isn't anything wrong with it. I have shot more groups in the ones and twos with it than any barrel I have ever owned. And that includes the Bartlein on my Creedmoor. Friend of mine has a Shilen on his 308 that was built up by WTO and it shoots very well.

Glad to see you go it all together Jorge, and hope it shoots for you like it did for me. It should tune in pretty easy though, it was never picky for me at all. Once again I apologize for the extra week getting it back to you. I'm glad I had it ready to go before my sons accident, finding time to cerakote that barrel this week would have been tough. We go back to Amarillo today for the first checkup on his arm since the surgery. Hoping for good news. He is already chomping at the bit to get out of our house and back up to college. If you saw him today you would be hard pressed to tell he spent 3 days in the trauma center last week. It always amazes me how fast those young men heal.
