This hunt actually took place back in the heat wave we had in December. (Notice the short sleeves and sweat on my face after dragging him a few yards to take pics.) This boar came out just before dark and I was able to get the shot on video with my IPhone before the spent case knocked the phone over. I just need to learn how to get that stuff off the phone and onto the forum but for now the pics will have to do. I have shot countless pigs over the last few years with the 6.8 Accubond but this was the first one that was bad enough to stop the bullet from exiting. I am still more than happy with the results though. The bullet smashed through both shoulders and was found just under the skin on the opposite side. He dropped in his tracks. Picture perfect expansion if you ask me.

Wow! Is that a home brew or off the shelf round? I'm new to 6.8 and looking for a favorite off the shelf round...

Wow! Is that a home brew or off the shelf round? I'm new to 6.8 and looking for a favorite off the shelf round... It is a standard off the shelf Silver State Armory 110 Nosler Accubond load. SSA is now owned by Nosler but its my understanding they are still producing this same load.

Well played. Nice hog. Look forward to killing many with my 6.8 as well. Very impressed with the bullet performance on that hog.

Nice Boar - what did he weight? I'm going to guess he was about 30 coyote meals.

Nice Boar - what did he weight? Don't know. I was at the lease by myself and he was too heavy for me to get off the trailer and into the deep freezer alone though.

Where are you finding that round in stock? The only solid hunting round I have been able to find is the Hornady SST round. I'm actually trying to get out of my 6.8 due to the lack of ammo selection.

I haven't bought a box of 6.8 in a good while so I am not aware of any kind of ammo shortage in that caliber. I do know that last time I was at Cabelas in Allen they had some of the newer Nosler branded SSA 6.8 ammo. Didn't look at which loads they had but it would probably be a good place to look if you happen to be in that area. The Hornady SST is a dang good hunting round though. I wouldn't put it on the same level as the Accubond but I would have no issues at all using it if its all I could get my hands on.
