I hunt in southern Atascosa County and was wondering when the bucks start to shed their antlers? Will they shed about the same time every year?

Mid/late March would be a time to start looking but by April 1st will have more sheds on the ground. April 10th will have 95% or more of the bucks having shed. Problem is the ground temps warm up and grass/weeds take off and get to tall to find any sheds. Also snakes get active mid to late March into April.

I like to look for them during turkey season. Somewhere around the 1st weekend in April. Hunt birds in the morning and sheds the rest of the day.

we have gone to early and found very few - if you wait too late, they get chewed on - my best guess in STex is mid April.

Saw a buck last weekend in East Texas that still had both antlers.

In Kent, Dickens, and Garza county they still have anllers if that tells you anything. We see them into April on a few in Montague but most drop in late Feb to March for us.

We found our first shed here in Menard/Mason County early last week, and saw a few missing an antler. This is about 2-3 weeks earlier than normal for here. Mid march is when we usually see the first shed. Maybe it is an early year

I was at my place this weekend in Northern Edwards County. Had a friend out hunting and he noticed one deer had already shed both antlers and one deer that had shed one side. Its early compared to the last few years for us.

Found one this weekend next to the fence line. My guess he jumped the fence and when he hit the ground the antler fell off.
