Who has one, and has added a muzzle brake to the pre-threaded barrel? Really like my CTR, but not the occasional meet up with my eye socket. Looking at JP Enterprise.

Any brake threaded for 5/8"x24 will work. The JP brakes will need to be timed, or use a shim. To properly line up the brake, the muzzle threading may need to be timed. Also look at the APA bastard brakes. They are now non-timed, and will not gunsmithing to line up. And they reduce recoil like crazy.

not CTR but close, mine is the Tact .308
I do have SAKO muzzle brake on it, very pleased with it

scope hitting you in the eye ? then move the scope forward
or need one with longer eye relief

@ Chad, thanks. I'll look at APA. Was hoping the crush washer that comes with the JP would take care of timing. A little worried about torqueing the action screws if I have to get on it too hard. Not having to time the APA is a big seller.

@cabosandinh, set up is fine. I had contact 3 times in about 15 shots. My Vortex is rubber coated at the eye piece, so it's only bad enough to cause me to think about it.

Doesn't sound like you are getting behind the rifle correctly. My little 7.5lb 3006 won't even come close to hitting my eye.

I have a CTR in 308 and love it. I have the surefire suppressor adapter/brake. It's not the best brake but it's necessary for my surefire SOCOM suppressor. Recoil is greatly reduced. I also have ordered a McMillan A-3 stock to replace the sucky factory stock.

If I may suggest...

Loosen the scope ring caps, and slide the scope forward 1 1/2". Turn the scope to Max magnification, close your eyes, get a cheek weld on the rifle, open your eyes. If there is any tunneling, move the scope back, repeat the process until there is no tunneling.

The scope shouldn't be hitting your eyebrow, especially on a .308 Win.

Still put a brake on it, though. wink

The contact was minimal, barely felt it and it was only a few shots. I've shot everything from a .22 to a .300 over the last 45 years, never had this much jump. I'll put a brake on and post some results. Thanks for the info.

no, there's still something wrong with your set-up

a .308 shouldn't be beating your eye socket

do what fireman recommended

I have a JP on my Savage HH. Its fully functional..............however, its huge, and you will need a set of shims. I got both of them from Midway. The threads were tight when I first installed it, had to use a wrench just to screw it on, and though the thread pitch was wrong for a while. If/when I replace this brake, I will go with something smaller. Virtually zero recoil, however, the guys as the range don't like it blush

My CTR is a smooth shooter, and granted I replaced the factory stock, but it's somewhat heavy and barely makes any jump in sandbags or from a bipod. I wouldn't mind suppressing it, but not sure it would benefit from a muzzle brake.

I have a ctr 308 and love it. I put the JP on there and it aligned perfectly with the washer. I am just now getting into shooting longer distances and this was the first time for me to shoot past 300 yards. I am learning to use mil and trying to figure out wind so this is pretty good for me a this point.
This was my last 2 shots at 700 yards shooting Hornady 150gr sst.

God is deep but he is not complicated.

That's all good stuff. Ordered a brake today, should be able to get to the range next Saturday. I decided to go with the APA, Little Bastard Gen II. No doubt about the gun, just hope to settle the barrel down.

Problem solved, only issue I have is trying to figure out why my target photo keeps rotating 90

Considering this same brake. What do you think? Does it control muzzle jump enough you can stay on target?

These shots were at the range using a Caldwell front rest and a rear sand bag. I wasn't able to stay right on target, but recoil and jump were GREATLY reduced. Had I shot from a bipod, probably could have stayed on target. Service from APA, design, detailed drawing and instructions, performance of product, ease of installation......all great.

Couldn't tell you much about an increase, I double up on hearing protection. From what I've heard, all brakes cause an increase, especially to those sitting next to the shooter. All said, this is a great product.
